01 Jul 2007 | Albertville, France and Rome, Italy
P/M Davis’ first tour as a bandleader was to Italy and France in the summer of 2007. The band made a stop at the Eternal City of Rome and performed with the Tartan Pride Highland Dance Team at the Coliseum. Later we were hosted by the City of Rome Pipe Band for an evening of great pasta and piping.
The band then headed north to Albertville, France. As Vancouver had recently been selected as the host city for the 2010 Winter Olympics the band had the honour of carrying the Olympic flag to Albertville, home of the 1992 Olympics. The organizers were so touched by this gesture that they re-ignited the Olympic torch for the band’s final performance night.
We then made our way to Modena, Italy for a series of mini-concerts in the outlying towns followed by a tattoo and concert at the Ducal Palace. A highlight of the tour was being invited by Major Graham Jones of the Band of the Coldstream Guards to perform with them on stage during the concert.
